In Norway, there are at least 120,000 children who suffer due to their parent’s drug and alcohol abuse. The LR GLOBAL KIDS FUND provides support for The Children Station, which is operated by the Norwegian chapter of the international organization “Blue Cross”.

The Children Station is a center that families can turn to when parents are unable to take care of their children, often because of severe alcohol problems. Here families learn how to live together and help each other instead of hurting each other. Parents learn how to take care of their children, and the children, in turn, are shown that they have a right to be a child, and that they are not responsible for the family.

The family visits the Children Station twice a week for a period of several months. During each visit, the family members practice normal everyday things together, guided by professional therapists and social workers. The center also has voluntary workers who work to establish effective networks where the families from the Children Station can spend time together and assist each other.

The needs of the children are at the heart of everything that takes place in the Center.  In short:  We teach adults to be adults, in order to give children the possibility of being children. The support provided by the LR GLOBAL KIDS FUND makes it possible for an increased number of children to enjoy the kind of life that they deserve.
