In Finland, the LR GLOBAL KIDS FUND provides financial support to the project of the Finnish „Clinic Clowns“, who have made it their business to professionally “fool around”.
The everyday life of a child in the hospital quickly gets boring, unhappy and often also painful. In such situations, the Finnish Clinic Clown Association helps and has so far cheered kids up in all the children’s wards of the university hospitals in Helsinki, Turku, Tampere, Kuopio and Oulu.
In 2010, with improvisation, music, songs, jokes and magic tricks, the clowns made 35.000 children of all ages, their family members and also hospital staff, laugh again.
The main principle of the clowns is clear: to make the children laugh. This takes away the young patients’ fear of surgery, the injections and, generally, of their illness. He who has less fear, can laugh more. It has, incidentally, been proven that laughter has a positive effect on recovery.
The LR GLOBAL KIDS FUND provides the “hospital clowns” with financial support so that they can put smiles back on the children’s faces and help them forget their pain for a while.
